It was holiday the past week and a long weekend. My siblings went to the mall and it was a good timing because it was on sale on its furniture department and home furnishings. They were able to bought one new wooden wardrobe cabinet colored cream brown. It is divided by a big main closet with two doors and at the bottom are two drawers. Clothes can be organized inside using hangers. On the bottom drawers can me some lingerie or shoes. Good timing because it fits to the room.
Gospel, John 10:1-10
1 ‘In all truth I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a bandit.
2 He who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock;
3 the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leads them out.
4 When he has brought out all those that are his, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow because they know his voice.
5 They will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not recognize the voice of strangers.’
6 Jesus told them this parable but they failed to understand what he was saying to them.
7 So Jesus spoke to them again: In all truth I tell you, I am the gate of the sheepfold.
8 All who have come before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep took no notice of them.
9 I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: such a one will go in and out and will find pasture.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full.
My friend has been very busy attending to her documents for the immigration the past weeks. She was requesting for my help regarding the legal papers that are being needed for their application with the immigration because of his foreigner husband. One of the requirements is the affidavit of cohabitation. It is a document where they state that they are living together as husband and wife for a certain period of time. Also that they are known to the community that they are living together. This is a notarized document so it needs a lawyer to affix the notarial zeal to validate its legality.
To continue my kitchenware escapade in the mall the other day, I saw one important tool for my cooking at home. I found this slicing utensil that can be of good use when slicing potatoes and carrots. It has a wavy blade that produces crinkle cuts. I can use this when cooking for beef stews where potatoes and carrots are ingredients. It is made of aluminum stainless easy to wash after slicing vegetables. Slices can be very thin, and be made very quickly, with significantly less skill and effort than would be required if cutting with a knife or other blade.
I had all my time the other day even if it was working day. I just got myself out of the stressful week last week where I had so many deadlines. Right after work off at five o’clock in the afternoon, I went to the mall to bought some small stuffs in the grocery section. The kitchen ware section was my next stop and I found a ceramic serving bowl that I can use at home. It is pure white in color, a bit heavy though but tolerable to carry. It is leaf design and I found it unique. Good for servings of rice, stir fry dishes, fresh fish side dishes and of more uses when I have visitors at home.
Today is the new month of May. The first day of the month which is the Labor Day. A celebration of all those people who work for their individual living. I really pay respect for those people who are working hard to earn a living. It is not easy whatever job you may be doing-service, manufacturing, factory worker, overseas, household, office, managerial, supervisory, blue collar or white collar jobs. it all summed up into labor forces of the society. They play very important roles for the benefit of the people in the world. Today is their day as a good tribute for their unending sacrifices.

Gospel Reading: Luke 24:13-35
That very day, the first day of the week,
two of Jesus’ disciples were going
to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus,
and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred.
And it happened that while they were conversing and debating,
Jesus himself drew near and walked with them,
but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.
He asked them,
“What are you discussing as you walk along?”
They stopped, looking downcast.
One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply,
“Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem
who does not know of the things
that have taken place there in these days?”
And he replied to them, “What sort of things?”
They said to him,
“The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene,
who was a prophet mighty in deed and word
before God and all the people,
how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over
to a sentence of death and crucified him.
But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel;
and besides all this,
it is now the third day since this took place.
Some women from our group, however, have astounded us:
they were at the tomb early in the morning
and did not find his body;
they came back and reported
that they had indeed seen a vision of angels
who announced that he was alive.
Then some of those with us went to the tomb
and found things just as the women had described,
but him they did not see.”
And he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are!
How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke!
Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things
and enter into his glory?”
Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets,
he interpreted to them what referred to him
in all the Scriptures.
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us,
for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other,
“Were not our hearts burning within us
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?”
So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem
where they found gathered together
the eleven and those with them who were saying,
“The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!”
Then the two recounted
what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of bread.
My cousin arrived the other day and stayed at home for two nights. She brought some clothing for us and let me select first which one I would like to have. There is a Gap jeans that fits well for me. It is colored dark blue, perfectly fitted for me at thirty by thirty size. Thirty waistline and thirty leg length. I like this brand though because of the casual yet elegant and quality style of the clothing like the pants. Made of imported quality material from Egypt and so I just made a good choice of having a new pair of pants.
It was a great family bonding time the other day. We had a get together at one specialty restaurant located at the nearby mall. It is a restaurant that caters seafood – crabs, shrimps, kinilaw ( tuna in vinegar and spices) . Crabs were cooked deep fried in garlic sauce and the shrimps in lemon sauce. Two servings each for ten persons. Yummy, finger-licking good as always:-) Everyone loves the seafood servings. though a bit pricey but the taste is distinct ad delicious as always. Thanks to our dear cousin for this delicious food treat for the whole family.
Its weekdays again and I am busy attending to the needs of my house guests who arrived from the other city. It is their only available time to visit here before going to the province tomorrow. My other relatives arrive early this morning on board the Toyota RAV4 SUV vehicle. They left early at three o’clock in the morning for a two hour travel going here in the city. This kind of vehicle is much suited for family because it can give comfort for long travel. Aside from that, it can carry baggage with spacious compartments at the back. It is a short family gathering that is not too often because of each places of living.
