Halloween day


Halloween (also spelled Hallowe’en) is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints. It is largely a secular celebration but some have expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.The colours black and orange have become associated with the celebrations, perhaps because of the darkness of night and the colour of fire or of pumpkins, and maybe because of the vivid contrast this presents for merchandising. Another association is with the jack-o’-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, ghost tours, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. The celebration here is getting merrier as many establishments like the malls are in theme of this occassion.  It is really scarry to see costumes associated with Halloween but all in all it is full of fun and excitement.

Sunday Cooking


I have this fish and vegetables meal for lunch this Sunday.  Maya-maya kind of fish is boiled in onions and fresh tomatoes then added with little salt and seasonings. Vegetables added here are okra and green leafy spinach. This cooking  has quick preparation so as to maintain the freshness and green of the vegetables. Best served hot with freshly cooked rice. I see to it that I have vegetable servings in my diet. Vegetables are good source of nutrition and strengthens my over all well being.  Vegetables are very cheap, easy to prepare and has good nutritional value.  I think I wouldn’t get  bored eating vegetables in my everyday meals.

Weekend breakfast


This bitter melon in shrimps and egg made my breakfast menu this weekend. I sauteed onions, garlic and tomatoes in olive oil then added peeled shrimps. Add salt, pepper and seasonings and stir fry quickly.  Put some thinly sliced ampalaya or bitter melon then simmer for 2 minutes with out stirring. After, put scrambled eggs and mix all together. Serve hot in a serving plate immediately. Best eaten with rice. This is one complete meal for breakfast. Very easy to cook and very cheap ingredients. The serving is already loaded with nutrients like protein and vitamin a. Ideal breakfast serving for the family or for one who is always on the go for breakfast meals. I love cooking and this menu just made my breakfast this weekend.Delicious!

Afternoon Shake


The weather feels like summer hot for the past weeks. Very humid and the roads are very dusty when I travel from home up to the downtown district.  I had lots of strolling and walking for the whole afternoon today and I felt thirsty after. I visited the nearby mall and bought a little groceries for home. After all the purchases, I stopped by a fruit shake stall that sells different kinds of blended smoothies like apples, bananas, watermelon, papaya, pineapple, strawberry and a lot more. It was not so pricey and the food value is healthful and refreshing. So i bought a regular sized apple shake for take out. It took only about 5 minutes of waiting. I like the serving paper cup because it is biodegradable. The straw was intricately sealed in a paper so you can really guarantee of cleanliness. I ordered it for take out and had it sipped while updating my online posts here. Thirst quenching, yummy shake that is perfect for one hot afternoon weekend.




Grateful birthday moments

Just one day after my birthday and I still feel the happy moments of what transpired on yesterday’s special day. My friends treated me for dinner and I never expected their surprises. It was a great day that happened only once in a year. I prepared simple dishes at home so we can have meals together. My siblings enjoyed savoring the yummy dishes that I prepared. I got a day off yesterday and nobody in the office knew that it was my birthday. I am always thankful for all the wonderful time of my birthday. Most of all, I am grateful for this another year added on my life aside from the age but its ok.  🙂 I like the feeling of getting matured and being responsible about life and how I see it as years pass by. This is a once in a year moment in myself that I always cherished and be always thankful of. Looking forward for more fruitful, happy and blessed birthdays to come..
