Eagle on pic

IMG_2085This is another beautiful sight to see during the adventures of my bro in Maxima Aqua Fun in Samal Island. A captured on camera brown headed eagle in brown and white spots wings. He looks lonely on a branch of a tree surrounded by green leaves. One of the leaves belong to a coconut tree. This eagle must be placed in a higher level so that he could not be harmed or touch by the onlookers and other visiting people in the island. I also noticed in the picture that the eagle’s feet are tied with a rope to secure him in place. I think keeping with this kind of bird requires lot of care. This one is somewhat belongs to the endangered species of eagle and the owner must be caring enough to have this being taken cared of in the island. Hey eagle, I hope you’ll stay more time and keep hanging up there.

Kadayawan Festival 2009

thumb_10It is another year of  the multi-cultural celebration in Davao City, the 24th Kadayawan Festival. This is an annual festival of thanksgiving– goodness of people and living, bountiful harvest and  wealth of culture in the city. A celebration of oneness by all  people of  various tribes and cultures joined together. The day today started with the indak-indak sa kadalanan ( street dancing) along the major streets of the city. There are various organizations that showcase the island’s best like art exhibit, indigenous music exhibition, trade fairs, music and dance parties and many more. Before arriving in the downtown area earlier this afternoon, I can see lots of people joining the celebration and very interested to see the different festivities maybe until tonight. Many malls today are opening until midnight for their mallwide sale. This would be a great time to shop for bargains. Perhaps I can drop by the nearest mall and see whats up for the Kadayawan festivities. Madayaw Davao & Happy Kadayawan Festival to all!!

Office Blessing and Grand Opening

It is Thursday already and I woke up early this morning to report at the office. It is the blessing and grand opening of the new district office. Many guests, friends and officemates attended the celebration. The day started with the ribbon cutting by the commissioner from the head office followed by a prayer and blessing by an invited priest. Every person carried a lighted candle and just feel the solemnity of the occasion while walking in a red carpet upstairs going to the main entrance of the office. Everybody gathered at the event area for the program proper.  The invocation started the event followed by the singing of the national anthem. Some  speakers did well in their short messages including the guest visitor no one else but the commissioner himself.  Some selected personnel rendered a dance presentation and everybody enjoyed watching their awesome moves.  An accapela was also  sang by another personnel from the designated section. The program ended with a closing remarks from the office officer who thanked all the people who joined the celebration. A merienda buffet was served after the program that consist of delicious foods from a special caterer that was hired to take charged of the food for the event. I thought only merienda meals were going to be served but another buffet lunch were feasted by everybody at noontime. The day  was really a grand celebration and we all enjoyed the get together in the opening of the new office.

Kangkong in my Plant Box

IMG_1975KangKong or water spinach, this is my home grown leaf vegetable at home. I planted this a month ago and now it is starting to grow with more leaves. I like planting this because it  does not require extra care. This is the upland variety of kangkong that grows in land while some varieties are usually grown in waterways. The plant box at home is the suitable place for the water spinach because the soil is fertile and there is an easy access to take care of the plants being planted on it. Kangkong has many culinary uses. It is one of the ingredients for cooking sinigang dishes, adobo or any vegetable dish that requires its use. Last weekend, I cultivated the soil and watered the plants. I planned to harvest some of the fresh leaves one of these days. The importance of home grown leafy vegetables is that it is guaranteed chemical free as compared to those that are sold in the supermarket. One way of making a healthy living that I started at home.

Preciously Mine

IMG_1972This is another valuable jewelry that I have, an 18 KT tri color bracelet. I bought this jewelry as one of my precious remembrance from hard earnings on my job. A jeweler friend offered this to me and I found it unique, simple and elegant to wear. I like wearing bracelets that are not so chunky or bulky on the wrist. This bracelet is tri colored so it blends with any fashion dress that I would be wearing on different occasions. When I bought this jewelry, some of my officemates were envious because they were not able to bought bracelet like this. When the jeweler sold it to me this is the one and only design that she had. Because we were friends, she immediately approached me to buy this thing. This was quite pricey but I think it was worth it to have a  piece like this for myself that I would consider as  preciously mine.

Liempo Dinner

IMG_2001I was so tired from work last night because of so many transactions. Well, because it was Monday.  The first day of the week and I hate Mondays.  Cooked meals by me were  usually served for dinner. But last night I freed myself from cooking so before going home I passed by Golden Brown, one of my favorite take out restaurant. I bought this crispy, yummy roasted liempo (pork belly part.) It was chopped in bite pieces and wrapped in banana leaves. I like their style of wrapping in roasted specialties of pork or chicken. Included in this take out food was the savory liver sauce used as dipping for the crispy liempo. The liempo was cooked well done, the seasonings and spices were all absorbed and I think the meat was well marinated because it was tasty even without the sauce dipping. One thing that I like about the restaurant is that they are serving fresh and hot food orders. When I arrived home, we immediately dined together as everybody was waiting for my take out food.  A great evening meal with this yummy liempo.

Hanging Eggplant

eggplantIt was  very relaxing at home this weekend. I was done with the household chores and some personal arrangements. I went outside near the fence and found this cute eggplant hanging just above the cemented fence walling. This is the plant of the neighbor that just sprouts up the home fence. I was thinking that eggplants usually are grown stout that it would not really grow tall. But this eggplant is of different variety because it grows over 5 feet. The purple fruit is still small and  it has flower on the side which could be another eggplant to sprout up soon. Some of the leaves started to get yellow and soon it will dried up and  fall down. I would be watching this eggplant growing big( hope so) if not, the owner of the plant will get this lonely eggplant for a meal. Hang on dude! 🙂

Interesting Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is one interesting pop singer at present time. I would consider myself as one of her avid fan because of her unique style of singing. She conquered the world music scene with enthusiasm and many young generations are following her performances. One unforgettable song for me is Poker Face. It is one great song. I read her saying that; “my goal as an artist is to funnel a pop record to a world in a very interesting way,” says Gaga, who wrote all of her lyrics, all of her melodies, and played most of the synth work on her album, The Fame (Streamline/KonLive/Cherrytree/Interscope). “I almost want to trick people into hanging with something that is really cool with a pop song. It’s almost like the spoonful of sugar and I’m the medicine.”It’s been a while since a new pop artist has made her way in the music industry the old-fashioned/grass roots way by paying her dues with seedy club gigs and self-promotion. This is one rising pop star who hasn’t been plucked from a model casting call, born into a famous family, won a reality TV singing contest, or emerged from a teen cable TV sitcom. “I did this the way you are supposed to. I played every club in New York City and I bombed in every club and then killed it in every club and I found myself as an artist. I learned how to survive as an artist, get real, and how to fail and then figure out who I was as singer and performer. And, I worked hard.”When she arrived in Manila for a concert last August 11, I was also excited to see her on television. I found her fashion sense very unique with her own distinctive style. I think many people enjoyed watching her performances in some parts of Asia. Her visit here was one way of making her fans happy and excited to see her live performance. Though it was just a short time, she enjoyed with us her danceable and upbeat tunes. More power Lady Gaga!

Think Green Thursday

IMG_1935It is my first time to participate in think green Thursday and I feel happy to join today because green is my favorite color :-).  Green is also the color for environmental awareness. My post for today is very much fit for the theme because it has something to do about caring and  concern on our environment. I have this  all-purpose bag where you can use for groceries and other carry all things.  There is no need to use plastic bags that are hazardous to the environment. I love the color, let us save the planet. Think Green!

Office Time-Out

I went out from the office today earlier than the usual time.  I got to end my online system work an hour before 5pm so that I would be able to turn-over my finished documents.  It felt good to be free from work just on time. There is a nice feeling of relief  from the demands of the office work and that I can still do other personal necessities and responsibilities.  This way I can go home early and be recharged from days of stress and also an opportunity  to update my online posts. 🙂
